Specialist Committees
The Fisheries Technical Working Group (F-TWG) is involved in many ongoing efforts related to the environmentally responsible development of offshore wind. Under the direction of New York State and the F-TWG, topically-focused Specialist Committees bring together science-based subject matter expertise to develop collaborative guidelines or other products that inform or advance the environmentally responsible development of offshore wind.
Current Efforts
Regional Surfclam Monitoring Plan
The F-TWG convenes a group of scientists, resources managers, and fishing industry representatives to develop a regional monitoring plan for Atlantic surfclam populations in the Mid-Atlantic Bight. As offshore development proceeds in the region, the Committee is working to establish a coordinated, science-based framework for tracking surfclam abundance, distribution, and habitat conditions across federal, state, and project-level monitoring efforts.
