Revolution Wind, a 704-megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm located off the coast of Rhode Island and Connecticut, began delivering power to the New England electric grid on March 14, 2026. The project, a 50/50 joint venture between Global Infrastructure Partners’ Skyborn Renewables and Ørsted, was built by more than 1,000 local union workers and is expected to power more than 350,000. Revolution Wind received all of its federal permits and was approximately 90% complete at the time it was affected by the December 22, 2025 suspension order issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). A federal judge subsequently ruled in January 2026 that work on the project could resume, allowing the delivery of first power to the grid. The project represents a major milestone for the U.S. offshore wind industry, becoming the second commercial-scale offshore wind farm to deliver power in the United States.
