South Fork Wind, the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in U.S. federal waters, has been awarded Power Magazine’s prestigious 2025 Plant of the Year honor. Located 35 miles east of Montauk Point, New York, this 132-MW project represents a critical milestone for America’s offshore wind industry. Developed by Ørsted and Eversource, South Fork Wind features 12 Siemens Gamesa turbines that began delivering power to approximately 70,000 Long Island homes in March 2024 under a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Long Island Power Authority.
